FAQ

Q – What exactly is a corrective treatment?
A – A peel breaks down the outer most layer of your skin to reveal “new” skin, helping reduce the appearance of large pores, acne scarring, sun damage and other pigment.

Q - Is it safe?
A – All peels have different recovery times; some have no recovery time. Your aesthetician will determine what best suits your lifestyle.

Q – What does the treatment feel like?
A – There is little to no discomfort when doing a peel.

Photofacial treatments

Photofacial technology offers a solution to the effects of time and sun spots and damage on your skin. This system can be used to treat pigmented lesions (sunspots or age spots) and vascular lesions (superficial red or purple veins under the skin’s surface, commonly known as rosacea, spider veins or port wine stains).

Using a laser treatment known as pulsed light, photofacial treatment breaks up pigment within the lesions and restores natural texture, tone and colour to your skin. It also refines pores and increases collagen production, reducing or eliminating fine lines and wrinkles.

Q – What are treatment sessions like?

A – Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment provider moves the Palomar Medilux hand piece over your skin. The hand piece emits light that breaks up pigment in the lesions. Most people experience a gentle “snapping” sensation, which causes little to no discomfort.

Q – What should I expect after treatment?
Some mild temporary redness and swelling (similar to a sunburn) often occurs in the treated area shortly after treatment. This usually subsides within a day. Pigmented lesions will darken slightly, fading away after 14 – 21 days. Vessels (visible veins) generally change color immediately, a process known as “graying” or “blanching”; the surrounding area may redden. The vessels fade after about 10 – 14 days.

Microdermabrasion

Our Parisian peels (using microdermabrasion) can minimize fine lines and wrinkles, remove blackheads and whiteheads, and soften the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-surgical, comprehensive approach to skin care. During treatment, gently swirling micro crystals are vacuumed across your skin with a delicate handpiece, removing dead skin cells. This stimulates new skin cell and collagen production.

Treatments are applied through a course of weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Depending on your skin condition and desired results, you may require between five to nine treatments.

Q – What does the treatment feel like?

A – Microdermabrasion is a medium, mechanical exfoliation of the skin. Most clients experience no discomfort at all and enjoy the light massaging exfoliation.

Q – Is it safe?

A – Yes. However, as with all such treatments there are some people who should not receive this treatment. Before treatment your aesthetic professional will ensure it is right for you.

Q – What can I expect after the treatment?

A – Sensitive skin may become slightly red or “flushed” very temporarily. You will be asked to use a thick cream or mask to prevent skin dehydration for the first few days after treatment.

Q – How many treatments will I need?

A – Generally we recommend a series of four facials 2 – 4 weeks apart. This treatment may also be used in conjunction with other clinical or facial treatments to accelerate healing time or treat conditions that may not be treatable by a traditional facial.
